Erected in the area of Catania ancient acropolis, the theater is today partially covered by eighteenth-century buildings.

Its current appearance dates back to the 2nd century AD and could accommodate up to 7000 spectators, being equipped with a large auditorium with 21 sets of seats.

Its structures were also embellished by the alternation of light and dark stones, an element that is no longer visible today.
